Jean Luzac of the Netherlands

Plaque Commerating Jean Luzac, who is described as a friend of the three most important players of America’s War for Independence – George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, without whom there would have been no new nation created.

“In grateful remembrance of
1746 JEAN LUZAC 1807
Friend of Washington, Adams and Jefferson
Champion of truth and righteousness
and of the cause of the United States of America
in the Leyden Gazette 1772–1785Erected by the Netherlands Society of Philadelphia PA
A.D. 1909”

Jean Luzac died in the powder ship explosion of 1807, in Leiden, The Netherlands. This memorial plaque is located there on the Rapenburg.
